Renovation, Addition

Third-generation owners of a secluded Lake Mendota property partnered with Brio Design Homes on an extensive historic home remodel, along with two carefully integrated additions designed to serve the family for the next century. Originally designed and later expanded by noted Madison architect Frank Riley, the 1930s residence required thoughtful preservation alongside major structural and functional updates.
Brio removed more than 13,000 square feet of plaster, sealed original finishes for protection, and completed significant structural work for long-term stability. The renovated layout includes a new master suite wing, six additional bedrooms, five bathrooms and a conservatory addition.
Additional updates were completed in a second phase, including new, larger French doors, a redesigned fireplace mantel, hearth and surround in the living room, powder room and second-floor bathroom remodels, selective window and door replacements, and interior painting.
